Readers of all ages will explore the night this summer as Victor Public Library presents “Dream Big - READ” and “Own the Night” during their summer reading programs. Activities will include programs on owls, dreams and wishes, stargazing, space exploration, and more for the elementary school aged children, and programs on stargazing and mythology, ghost hunting, dreams, and monster make-up for the teens.

The 2012 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prizes, story hours and more.

The elementary program will start with “Owl Fest” on Wed. June 27 at 10:00 am, with the Naturalist from Lake Iowa visiting to talk about owls.  The theme for Fri. July 6 will be “Be Careful What You Wish For”, and Wed. July 11 will be “Stargazing”, both at 10:00 am.  Wed. July 18 at 6:30 pm, we are pleased to welcome back Mad Science of Iowa and their crazy, interactive science program for the whole family.  Finally, on Wed. July 25 at 10:00 am, Melinda Wichmann and her dog, Phoenix, will join us for our “Dog Days of Summer” program.

The teen program will begin with “Stargazing and Mythology” on Sat. June 23 at 1:00 pm.  We are pleased to have Jeni Olson, owner of the Old Hollis Inn in Marengo, coming on Sat. July 7 at 1:00 to discuss “Ghost Hunting.”  Sat. July 14 at 1:00, will be “Dreams and Landscapes,” and we will finish up with “America’s Next Top Monster” on July 21 at 1:00.
